• Class duration: 5 days
• Short lectures to match students' attention span: 1/3 of class time (vs. 1/2 in a typical class)
• Primary emphasis on "learning by doing": 2/3 of class time (vs. 1/2 in a typical class)
• Learning gaps are identified with measurement testing twice a day
• Around the clock availability of remote labs facilities
• Granular feedback from test results allows timely, productive support and remedial activities: learning is enhanced
• Final comprehensive test to measure student's performance
• Instructor's performance is determined by the results of the students' learning
• Quality of the class is measured by the student's learning performance

E-learning Class @ Soleil

• Same contents as 5-day instructor-led class
• Longer class duration (=10 working days) to allow self-paced student activities
• Short pre-recorded multi-media lectures to match students' attention span: 1/4 of class time or 20 hours, plus timing flexibility in listening to lectures.
• Primary emphasis on "learning by doing": 3/4 of class time to allow adequate time for study and labs practice (60 hours over 10-day class), plus timing flexibility in doing labs exercises
• Timely completion of activities is ensured by instructor based on measurement testing twice a day or 20 times over a 10-day class
• More time for instructor's support over live web-conferencing: 30 hours over 10-day class
• Learning is enhanced with feedback from test results followed by structured reviews and remedial activities twice a day or 20 times over a 10-day class
• Around the clock availability of remote labs facilities
• State-of-the-art remote lab infrastructure featuring VMwareTM to host system labs for higher availability, and tools to allow the instructor to see what the students see
